Politically-motivated music.

Some would say political music is a dead art and that people, by large, have... Some would say political music is a dead art and that people, by large, have been demoralized. People say that people have abandoned music that carries with it the harsh reality checks that make progress possible, or, at least, make the absurdities of our current political landscape tolerable. Some people say that gone are the days of the literate punk rocker, the conscious rapper and the poetically prophetic singer-songwriter, that music should be safe and comfortable, predictable and formulaic, should carry with it a sense of good-natured fun instead of the sense of dread most of share regarding the sorry state of our world's most harsh political realities- realities which etch, in the deepest core of our soul, such disturbing images as poverty, racism, greed, famine, corruption and death. Some people say we should ignore these things, that "life's too short" to worry about stuff we have no control over, that we would be better served by accepting our miserable place at the bottom life's barrel, that we should wait benignly to die without dignity, living paycheck to miserable paycheck, without hope, without dreams, without even a reason why, but that's just retarded. That's not how humans were meant to live. The fact that they tell us to give up trying just proves how vulnerable they are. They may have sanitized all of pop culture, but the tiniest sliver remains that will become a raging tsunami of passion and truth and acceptance, a global community of people unwilling to passively stand by, never daring to challenge The Lie, which we all know in hearts is a lie, The Lie that there is nothing new under the sun, that our best days are behind us, that intelligent noise can't make good radio hits, that smart is stupid and that stupid is just plain fun for the whole damn family. This is a group for passionate artists. You know what to do. You know you know. Now is the time. Let's go. (All styles and genres welcome, as long as the music carries political ramifications and doesn't suck.) More ยป
